Our Bright Star
Our Bright Star story begins on a cool, starry night when I looked up to the moon with a heavy heart, wanting and wishing for a child. So there I was crying in the darkness feeling the sadness . A sadness that many couples have felt over time when trying to build their family. I am not going to bore you with the details leading up to March 24th 2007, which by the way, was the BEST DAY of our love story thus far. So fast forward and skipping all the crazy stuff prior to that awesome day in 2007, my husband and I were blessed with our baby girl! Aydia Paige Lucero Krizan!
So here we are in Guatemala City, blessed with the cutest baby girl ever reading one of our favorite books, On the Night you were born by Nancy Tillman. The very first page starts with a paragraph so true it still makes me cry. “ On the night you were born the moon smiled with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you and the night wind whispered, Life will never be the same” Because there had never been anyone like you…ever in the world.” We did not stop smiling…still haven’t.
Since that amazing and life changing day, we have wanted to do something to give back. We had been blessed beyond measure and determined to somehow help others feel this wonderful feeling that was deep in our hearts.
Now, I always knew, since I was a little girl, that I wanted, no, needed to somehow make a difference, to make an incredible change in the world, I just didn’t know where to start.
So before Aydia, that “difference” was pretty broad. I knew I needed to help people but was scattered in my thoughts as to how to do that. I was everything from a candy striper to a clown in elderly homes. Always inviting people I had just met or those who were alone to Thanksgiving dinners at our home.
When I worked in corporate America, I loved growing a team. Teaching them what I knew, giving them the tools needed to excel, the self-confidence to know they can do ANYTHING they put their mind to and to NEVER GIVE UP. Especially in the face of trials and tribulations, hard times, turmoil, heartbreak, and the curve balls life can throw at us.
These were all things I truly lived for, helping those in need, making others feel happy, safe and loved and to succeed in grabbing the dreams they had.
Then came our bright star, Aydia . My desires and purpose became much clearer.
I wanted to EMPOWER my daughter, other children and adults! Let’s face it, it is the adults who are lucky enough to be raising these beautiful children of our earths future! I want to teach and give them the tools needed to excel and make their dreams come true. To live a happy, healthy, love-filled life. The meaning of the word empower brings goosebumps to me… “make (someone) stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.” NOW THAT IS A POWERFUL STATEMENT!
Now this may seem like a daunting task, but I believe doing this with my daughter and husband by my side, makes it less scary and to me sounds like an incredible journey.
So, here we are starting this new venture together as a family. We created Bright Star Gifts! In partnership with Bella Nani Spa, we sell fair trade items from various countries like Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, Philippines, Rwanda, Mexico, India and more.
Along with these fair trade gifts, Aydia and Michael create and sell their own handcrafted wellness items. Part of the sale of each item goes to various charities to help others in need.
We are growing slowly and are excited about working together and entering into this next chapter of our family’s life.
Our family philosophy is that life should be full of adventures; cool coincidences; impromptu conversations with strangers and friends; and daily discoveries that leave you in awe.
We should all journey forward with good karma in our hearts and in our soul and inspire others to do the same.
By the way, Aydia’s birth name Lucero means Bright Star and Aydia means Gift!!
Live and Love Well my friends!
