Hey everyone! I am Michele Sciubba and I am a Master Hair Stylist here at Bella Nani Salon and Day Spa! I have been in this industry for 6, going on 7 years and have been calling Bella Nani my home for the last 4 or 5 years! Come to think of it, I believe that I have been here since we opened our doors and I think I was even one of the first stylists hired here! I am in the salon on Mondays by appointment only, Thursday’s and every other Saturday.
BN: What made you fall in love with working at Bella Nani? Why do you love working here?
Michele: I fell in love with Bella Nani the second I met Kimberly and connected with her on so many levels! She was soo passionate about her business and what she was trying to create, she was caring, loving and the vibe was soo peaceful.
BN: How did you get into the industry?
Michele: I’ve been doing friends and family’s hair since I was much much younger! I had such a passion for the industry at such a young age, watching hair stylists all the time on the internet and shows!! My grandmother loved me doing her hair, and all of my grandmothers friends at the senior center were in awe at how amazing her hair always came out, I just knew it was for me! I just was IN LOVE with making people feel better about themselves and looking beautiful! My grandmother ALWAYS told me to just “go for it & live my dream & go to school for hair” and after she passed I knew it was time! I then enrolled myself in school a few months later. She was my angel, my guide to my success!
BN: What is an in industry dream job for you (besides Bella Nani)?
Michele: Honestly I am just soo passionate about being a hairstylist that this is my Industry dream job! Maybe adding in performing on stage at hair shows or being able to b a celebs personal stylist would be fun!
BN: What 3 tools in your kit can you not live without?
Michele: My scissors, cutting comb and blow dryer
BN: What is your favorite product offered at Bella Nani and why?
Michele: I LOVE the Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Color Freeze CC Cream! Its a miracle in a bottle! Not only is it a protect-ant for colored hair, it is weightless, adds moisture and controls everyone’s main issue: FRIZZ!! Also, itlasts up to 48 hours!! Not only does it nail the major issues of the “Everyday persons” hair but it also has keratin that helps with the strength/elasticity of your hair!
BN: Advice for anyone just starting out in the industry?
Michele: Make sure to take pride in each and EVERY client/clients hair… Make sure to LISTEN to every client who sits in your chair and take care of them how you would want to be taken care of! DEFINETLY to keep pushing yourself to be better everyday with each client…CONSTANTLY update yourself on the newest trends, and be active with continuing to educate yourself with learning newest techniques as well!! Never give up, if hair is your passion you will succeed!
BN: Favorite service to do/hairstyle to create?
Michele: I absolutely love color, blonding and updo’s!! Balayage has become my newest fave!!
BN: What has been your best day on the job?
Michele: Seeing a woman come into my salon, she was soo upset and horrified by what someone had done to her hair, feeling soo sad, depressed and down on herself, reluctant to sit in ANYONE’S chair again… Then to seeing her leave my chair smiling, thanking me endlessly, hugging me with tears in her eyes… This to me is EXACTLY WHY I LOVE MY career of being a hairstylist… She loved herself again and that to me was worth more than ANY money… I made her feel alive
again and she could now, not ONLY Love herself again, but she could trust in her hair in someone else’s hands once again!
BN: Favorite Quote?
Michele: “Imperfection Is beauty, Madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring” Marilyn Monroe
BN: Hidden talents or funny stories you want to share?
Michele: Somehow when I was coloring a clients hair, I managed to not ONLY color her roots but I accidentally somehow got color on her chin that we didn’t realize and she ended up having a bit of a color- stained chin (even after color remover) that looked like faded chin hair! Thank God she was a good friend!!!
