This month is so special here at Bella Nani Salon and Day Spa because we are celebrating our 5th Anniversary of being in business.  If you are a regular reader then you know that we feature a new staff member each month.  However, we have yet to highlight our fearless “Bella In Charge”, Miss Kimberly Krizan!  She is the owner and beauty behind all of the rest of the Bella’s here at the salon and we are so thrilled to be able to finally feature the brain and beauty that makes this salon and day spa possible.  Trust us when we tell you that Kimberly is one of the most genuine women in business that we know.  From her huge heart to infectious laugh we cannot think of a better woman to lead us through all the highs and lows of business ownership and we greatly look forward to being able to celebrate her in every way as we continue this amazing journey with Bella Nani Salon and Day Spa!

Beauty Behind The Bella's

Hey there, I am Kimberly Krizan and I have the honor of owning Bella Nani Salon and Day Spa.  I have been in this industry since 2004 and Bella Nani opened its doors in 2013.  We are so excited to be celebrating 5 years in business!

I got the idea for Bella Nani after many years in Corporate America in the Finance sector.  I loved my career and was working about 75 hours a week but I made sure I carved out time for me every now and then.  I looked forward to my own “AHHHHHH” time where I could relax and renew to give my all again to my career and the people in my life. That time for me was visiting a Day Spa and getting a massage, or a pedicure or my nails done etc.  During one of my visits to my dear friends’ Spa, we were chatting about how I was missing the people part of my day and I wanted to figure out what I could add to my life to fill the void of helping others. She suggested going back to school and becoming a Nail Specialist. So there it began, I studied nights and weekends and became a NYS licensed Nail Technician! I started working nights and weekends in my friends Day Spa while still working in Corporate America helping others relax and renew in their busy lives and knew I wanted to own my Day Spa one day to be there for others.  At this time  I currently have 12 fabulous artists contracting with me creating this relaxing environment in the realm of hair, nails, massages, skin care, waxing, Reiki and giving to others.

When I started, my mission was to create a relaxed environment where people would enter and feel at home, not just receive a service. I wanted to inspire friendships, a feeling of happiness and family. I was not looking for just clients but people who became friends.   Over the years I have seen a bit of change in my mission in that my desire is to now reach out to the community.  I do not want to just be a business that waits for people to enter but one that can try and make a difference for others in need.  I want to help inspire my team to be there for others, to give them the tools needed for their career and goals.  I have become more aware of the troubles people are facing and want to give back to others, to help our children in the community reach for their dreams, to help raise money for people in need.

I attribute my success to never giving up! I have had some pretty big obstacles along the way trying to deter my dream but I was determined.  I believe the lack of confidence I had from some people in my life made me fight even harder to keep going and I am so glad I did! I am thankful to my husband for supporting me, my daughter so I could teach her to never give up on your dreams and be a good role model and for those who believed in me!

I have been asked what made me choose the location that I am in now and to that I say, I used to watch Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt and fell in love with the town her antique shop was in and I wanted a community like that.  A place where people walked the streets and chatted and just enjoyed their day…minus the spirits.  Ballston Spa has it all and I love it…and my spirits!  I find that since we opened my business is unique due to its location as well as the atmosphere, the feel of “being home”.  I have tried to create an environment where everyone is welcome and sometimes just have friends stop by for coffee and to sit and relax and chat.

I also love that Bella Nani helps the community that surrounds us however, I want to help more.  I donate gift baskets, gift certificates and services many times throughout the year and love helping my entrepreneur friends! Whenever I have events, I open up my Spa to vendors who can come and market themselves to help build their business and make new friends.  I feel that this is a vital part of being a business owner in a small town in order to create a true sense of community.

Finally, if I had one piece of advice to give a person that is just starting their journey to business ownership it would be, NEVER GIVE UP!  Our hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of our life. There are many important reasons for living a successful and fulfilling life and among them are Never stop dreaming, Never stop believing, Never give up, and Never stop learning.

I also love inspirational quotes. I have them all over my home to stay focused and positive. I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes that I keep in mind often and has given me strength when I needed it:

“You just can’t beat the person who won’t give up.” ―Babe Ruth
